Flat Rock Creek Water Outing August 19th

Photos Thanks to Kathi Avey, Jean Dick, & David Morris

Bright sunshine, very little breeze all day so the fans in the shelter helped some, high temperature 97°, but lake water was nice & cool, the club outing to Flat Rock Recreation Area at Fort Gibson Lake on Saturday, August 19th was another good one.

Friends – Food – Fun:

The club supplied hamburgers, hot links, hot dogs, buns, condiments, & chips. Roger Eaton & Cody Reese handled the hot job of cooking. Good job guys, Thank You! Thanks to John Hayworth for transporting the club grill & tables to and from the club storage.

There were 30 members standing in line to chow down on burgers, hot dogs, hot links and outstanding assortment of food brought by club members. Thanks to all those bringing the side dishes and desserts. If you went away hungry at this outing, again it was your own fault.

After the big feed there were scattered as evenly as possible 199 tokens in a 60 yards X 20 yards, more limited because of the lake level being up. There were 15 tokens for member donated prizes, and 160 tokens for Mercury Dimes, 16 tokens for Silver Quarters, & 8 tokens for Silver Halves. Tokens were painted Wheat Cents, painted aluminum pulltabs, painted & numbered .54 Gallagher Minie’ bullets, painted dug up Indian Cents, and painted Shield Nickels, V-Nickel & one Half Cent.

When the start signal was given there were 18 water hunters frothing the water. After 1 hour+ of hunting 4 of the prize token bullets, 44 Mercury Dimes tokens, 10 tokens for Silver Quarters , & 5 tokens for Silver Halves were not recovered. The high lake level, muck, & rocks account for the unrecovered. These unfound prizes & coins will be added to the 2017 Water Hunting Season Finale in September.

Member donated prizes: $5.00 donated by Charles & Doris Bohuslavicky won by Lloyd Coke. Multitool donated by Charles Bohuslavicky token not recovered. 1964 Silver Kennedy Half Dollar donated by Lloyd Coke won by David Morris. 5 – Mercury Dimes donated by Wally & Jean Dick won by Bob Avey. 5 – Mercury Dimes donated by Wally & Jean Dick token not found. 1964 Uncirculated Silver Kennedy Half Dollar donated by John & Rachel Hayworth won by Roger Eaton. Checkin’ in those tokens for Silver coins & prizes:

Some of the higher totals found were: Wally Dick 19 Mercury Dimes, 2 Silver Halves, & 3 prize token. Chuck Marcum 13 Mercury Dimes, 1 Silver Quarter, & 1 Silver Half. Bill Rouse 14 Mercury Dimes. Lloyd Coke 8 Mercury Dimes, 2 Silver Quarters, & 1 prize token. Kim Hauger 11 Mercury Dimes. David Morris 7 Mercury Dimes & 1 prize token.

The winner of $24.00 in the 50-50 Raffle was Wally Dick. Thanks to Jean & Wally Dick for running the 50/50 raffle.

And as the Sun set slowly in the West over a full lake, the ITTHC members headed home with a full belly and a smile on their face!

Again, one of the main reasons for this type of outing, besides the food of course, is to give non-water hunting members a chance to try their hand at it. Also, the fun and fellowship of being with people that enjoy the same hobby.

Again, if you missed this outing, you missed a good one. Don’t miss the next one!
