Below is a another blast from the past, an article from Western & Eastern Treasures magazine issue of March 1987. Many newer ITTHC members have probably heard us “Old Timers” talk about Howard “The Flash” Stanart and many current members knew Howard. “The Flash” was very competitive, not just in the Competition Hunts but in every day metal detecting. If Howard was behind for the day metal detecting, hunting buddies would almost literally have to drag him to the car at dark. Howard at 85 was headed to another competition hunt when he had the stroke that finally did him in. Howard “The Flash” Stanart one of the very memorable metal detecting ledgends.
