Christmas – Arbeka Indian Territory - 1887

Below is a letter to the editor of the “Our Brother In Red” newspaper issue of January 7, 1888 telling of a Christmas Party held in the community of Arbeka, Indian Territory on December 17, 1887. It does remind me of Christmases in my childhood of the early 1950’s, getting more needed things than toys. Homemade embroidered western shirts with pistols & silver bullets from a aunt, a handmade quilt from a grandmother, underwear, socks, shoes and the red net stocking filled with hard candy, nuts, an apple and an orange. Great memories!

Thought some would like to see what Christmas was like back in the day Indian Territory style.

Merry Christmas to All!
